About Me

Marlene Ruiz, Certified Professional Dog Trainer

I'm a passionate dog trainer dedicated to helping dogs and their owners build strong, positive relationships. With years of experience and a deep love for our four-legged friends. I provide expert training, valuable resources, and compassionate guidance to help dogs and their owners build stronger, more balanced relationships through clear communication, structure, and compassion. Whether you're dealing with basic obedience, advanced tricks, or behavioral challenges, my goal is to make training a rewarding and enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. Join me on this journey to create a happier, healthier life for your furry companion!

My love for training started in an unexpected way—after overcoming a childhood fear of dogs, I discovered how powerful the human–canine bond can be. Years later, when I trained my Standard Schnauzer, Pepper, to assist me with mobility tasks during my Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis journey, I realized my true calling: helping others experience that same partnership.

I’m proud to serve as the Director of Oversight for the Legislative Committee of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), where I advocate for responsible training standards and the rights of dog professionals. In addition, I work as a trainer for the Magic City K9 prison program, guiding incarcerated handlers as they train rescue dogs for adoption—creating second chances for both people and dogs.

I’m CPDT-KA certified, have completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course and TBTE Level 1, and am an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and Pet First Aid/CPR Certified.

My Mission

My mission is to help you develop an unbreakable bond with your dog and build a relationship of love and mutual respect. I believe in using training methods that work for your dog which provide structure and good, clear, communication between you and your dog.
